(inherited from collection) - Description:
- 908-918 N. 33d Street Richmond, Virginia 37º31'57" N, 77º24'20" W Shed Town was an area of Richmond that, before the Civil War, included free blacks and their houses dating back as early as the 1830s. Many of those houses were so-called shotgun houses and most were demolished in urban renewal projects of the 1960s and 1970s. These pictured are almost the only ones remaining today. Shed Town was incorporated into Richmond in 1867.
