- Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden 1800 Lakeside Avenue Richmond, Virginia 37º37'12" N, 77º28'14" W The present-day Ginter Botanical Garden began in the early 1890s when Lewis Ginter built the Lakeside Wheel Club there, a destination that Richmonders could reach by bicycle or trolley. After Ginter's death his niece, Grace Arents, expanded all aspects of the Wheel Club and its associated features, enlarging the Wheel Club building to be a refuge for sick children and increasing the size of the gardens. The garden complex did not reach its full potential until the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.
