Richmond, Virginia
(inherited from collection) - Description:
- 3200 Williamsburg Avenue Richmond, Virginia 37º31'32" N, 77º25'3" W The original, two-story brick portion of this warehouse complex was built in 1900, and it was here that Armitage Manufacturing Company produced building supplies and roofing paper. A third story was added in 1924, as seen in the change in brick color. About 1928 a three-story portion was added, and a 1954 barrel-roofed addition brought the building to its present configuration. The Fibre Board Container Company operated from this location 1916-1956. The building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is presently available for lease. In its early days this building would've seen train traffic between the nearby Church Hill tunnel and the shipping docks of Rockett's Landing.
