Description:
3017 Williamsburg Avenue Richmond, Virginia 37º31'32" N, 77º25'3" W This house began life in the 1780s as a two-room cottage, and even though it is the last surviving structure from the once busy port of Rocketts Landing, it was almost demolished to enable the widening of Williamsburg Avenue. Fortunately it was saved by the Historic Richmond organization, and in 1974 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is named for John Woodward, a ship's captain who lived there during the first two decades of the 19th century.
