- Moore Street School now George Washington Carver Elementary School 1110 West Leigh Street Richmond, Virginia 37º33'18" N 77º26'58" W The Moore Street School was built 1886-87, so-named for its front on the 1100 block of W. Moore Street. This, the west elevation of the school, faces the 1000 block of N. Harrison Street. With the 1951 completion of a new building on the same grounds, this building was taken out of classroom service and the school was rechristened George Washington Carver Elementary School. The school's mascot: "Home of the Peanuts."
