(inherited from collection) - Description:
- Castlewood Plantation 10021 Iron Bridge Road Chesterfield, Virginia 37º22'30" N 77º30'10" W The central portion and right wing of this house were built circa 1817-1819, while the left wing was moved here and added to this structure. The passageways between the central portion and the wings are called "hyphens." Atop the right hyphen is a "widow's walk" that leads to the upper floor of the right wing. The upper floor of the left wing is reached via an internal stair. The lower floor of the right wing was historically used as a ballroom. The five-part plan of this house, now owned by Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia, is said to be unique among Virginia buildings.
