This home was originally owned by the deputy sheriff Thomas B. Carter from 1830s until his death in 1863. His son-in-law, George G. Pace would own it until his death in 1866. The property is referred to "Centre Plains" at this point in time. The property would change hands a few more time until Henrico County Treasure Walter J. Todd buys it at auction in 1898. Upon his passing in 1906 the property is once again auctioned off to cover his debts. From there it becomes known as "Walnut Hill" and become a day care before changing hands a few more times until it is foreclosed and auctioned once again until present day residences acquire it. Some records make claims that this home served as a hospital or head quarters during the civil war, and while it's proximity to Meadow Bridge certainly makes those claims plausible, no hard evidence supports them.
