(inherited from collection) - Description:
- E. Marshall Street at College Street Richmond, Virginia 37º32'22" N, 77º25'46" W Perhaps this building isn't so far removed from Richmond's Confederate history as one might think. Inside the building the following is found on a plaque: "Simon Baruch Auditorium Egyptian Building Medical College of Virginia 1939 "Atfer nearly a century usefully given to education for health service, this building has been reconstructed within and restored without. Its auditorium is dedicated to the memory of a distinguished alumnus Dr. Simon Baruch, 1840-1921. A member of the class of 1862 who was a Confederate surgeon. A creative practitioner, investigator and father of American hydrotherapy. The generosity of a devoted son Bernard M. Baruch is gratefully acknowledged by the College in this timely restoration."
