- 2600 Nine Mile Road Richmond, Virginia 37º32'27" N, 77º24'29" W This building was previously Parsley's gas station and convenience store. It is now three facilities operating under the umbrella name above. The first is 4,000 square feet for community purposes, including a meeting room. Second is Parsley's Kitchen, where local residents can learn and practice healthy cooking. Third is Front Porch Café, which opened September 29, 2017 and serves coffee, tea and smoothies, as well as breakfast and lunch items. The café is operated by CHAT (Church Hill Activities and Tutoring) and employs area young people. Sarah Garland Jones, who earned her medical degree in 1893, was the first African American woman licensed to practice medicine in Virginia. She was instrumental in founding what would become Richmond Hospital, a facility owned, staffed and operated by African Americans. Jones died after a long illness on May 11, 1905, at age 39.
