Edgeworth Tobacco ceased operations in 1974. Radio station WRVA, simultaneously referred to as The Edgeworth Tobacco Station, was established as a subsidiary of Edgeworth Tobacco and first went on the air November 2, 1925. According to several accounts, WRVA was first located in this Edgeworth Tobacco building. In the Sixth Edition booklet titled WRVA Souvenir Radio Log , dated 1929, WRVA's studio is said to be on Main Street, adjacent to the Edgeworth Tobacco factory. That building is at the address 2113 E. Main and is still standing, now home to the restaurant Grandstaff & Stein. Hirschler Fleischer, now shortened to Hirschler, is the name of a law firm located in this building. Link to Souvenir Radio Log . Link to current photo of the Main Street studio location.
