Description:
3301 Williamsburg Avenue Richmond, Virginia 37º31'28" N, 77º24'59" W This much-photographed building is part of a complex of dilapidated structures that once produced coal gas used for, among other things, lighting Richmond's street lights. Now closed for decades, the area has seen numerous plans to rehab the site come and go. Even now, in September 2019, the city of Richmond's website blithely states that restoration of the site and buildings should be complete by December 2018. Ummm... More recently, a April 2019 article in the Richmond Free Press bravely stated that site work should begin in early 2020. Like the Moody Blues, we are watching and waiting.
