C.T. Russell Lofts 700-702 N. 2nd Street Richmond, Virginia 37º32'52" N 77º26'12" W These two brick, stone and iron buildings are important in the history of early black-owned businesses in Richmond. Richmond Beneficial Insurance Company was the first occupant of the 1912 building at left. The smaller building, which dates from 1920, was home to Second Street Savings Bank. The buildings have been converted to apartments, and are now named C.T. Russell Lofts, after the African-American who designed the buildings.
