(inherited from collection) - Description:
- In chapter 28 of the Bible's Book of Genesis Jacob dreams of a ladder (or stairway) that angels use to traverse between heaven and earth. In subsequent centuries the heavenly ladder has been used in countless novels, songs, films, and paintings. My own exposure began at summer church camp as a teenager, when we sat around an evening camp fire and sang We Are Climbing Jacob's Ladder. I disliked the song then, and I avoid it to this day.
