- The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is located in Richmond, Virginia. The museum opened in 1936 on Richmond's Boulevard. In May, 2010, the museum unveiled a $150-million building expansion (pictured above) increasing the museum’s gallery space by nearly 50 percent, including a three-story atrium, with a 40-foot tall glass wall to the east and broad expanses of glass walls to the west, and a partially glazed roof.
