- Black and white photograph showing a view of the James River near the James River and Kanawha Canal in the Riverfront District of Richmond, Virginia. __The donor and photographer was trying to recreate views from a facsimile reprint of "Illustrated Guide to Richmond, The Confederate Capital" from the City Intelligencer of 1862. The images in this collection were rejects from the project.<br />This image is possibly referencing a wood engraving from a sketch by John R.
