- Black and white photograph showing the Mayo Bridge crossing the James River in downtown Richmond, Virginia; view looking northwest from the southern end of the bridge; Federal Reserve Bank building at left. __The donor and photographer was trying to recreate views from a facsimile reprint of "Illustrated Guide to Richmond, The Confederate Capital" from the City Intelligencer of 1862. The images in this collection were rejects from the project.<br />This image is likely referencing a wood engraving from Harper's Weekly (January 18, 1862) showing Mayo's Bridge and Richmond from the south side of the James River.
