Architectural Style: antebellum Original Description \(transcribed from book\): This antebellum building is the only surviving example of an early commercial structure. Its steep roof and masonry first floor front testify to its age although the building has been extensively altered. The shingles should be removed and wood clapboard replaced, and the window sash also needs replacement. Original Note \(transcribed from book\): The 300 Block of West Leigh Street - The north side of the street has survived as residences, while the southern side has disappeared completely. This was the boundary of the original Jackson Ward and has been a center of the black community for well over a century.
