- Card Text \(transcribed from postcard\): Monumental Church (Episcopal) stands on Broad Street, on what was formerly Academy Square. It was built as a memorial and upon the site of the old Richmond Theatre, destroyed by fire December 26th, 1811, at which time about 60 persons, including Governor G.W. Smith of Virginia, lost their lives; the crypt in the portico contains their ashes and a record of their name. Note: Front of postcard reads: 'Photo only Copyright 1906 by Jamestown Official Photo Corp'n.' City/Location: Richmond (Va.)
