Clay Street (and 12th Street) in Richmond, Virginia; the Classical Revival mansion was designed by Robert Mills in 1818 and served as residence and headquarters for Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederate States of America from 1861-1865; the house was used to house the Central School (one of the first public schools in Richmond) from 1871-1893; owned by the Confederate Memorial and Literary Society from 1894-2014.
