Glass plate negative of one of two "open air" classrooms at Springfield School, 26th and Leigh Streets in Church Hill, Richmond, Virginia; image shows children seated at desks looking out of large open windows onto the rooftop of the school building; teachers visible at left; open air schools and classrooms were an early 20th century trend believed to help students maintain their health and boost their metabolisms through invigorating air and sunlight (ca. 1908-1941).
